近日， 美国布鲁克海文国家实验室人力资源与职业医疗处向该实验室员工发出呼吁捐助我国抗震救灾。该处主任威廉亥姆先生在呼吁中说：听到中国四川遭受地震的消息为之震惊和悲伤，希望布鲁克海文国家实验室的员工发扬过去在“911”和卡特里娜飓风灾难中所表现出来的光荣传统，一如既往，慷慨捐助。
目前，已有两个布鲁克海文实验室员工团体（自娱联合会（BERA）和中国学生学者联合会与亚洲太平洋美国联合会）表示将开展捐助行动。布鲁克海文国家实验室科学协会承诺将对捐款将进行一比一的匹配，上限为2万5千美元。以下是呼吁书原文：
BSA to Match Employee Donations to Earthquake and Cyclone Victims
We were all shocked and saddened by the death and destruction caused by flooding in Myanmar and the earthquake in China. In the past, following other disasters such as 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina, BNLers generously donated toward relief efforts.Now, following these recent events, two BERA clubs - the Chinese Students and Scholars Association and the Asian Pacific American Association -- are hoping to garner donations to contribute to relief efforts. Brookhaven Science Associates (BSA), the company that manages the Lab, will generously match the BNL total 。dollar donations up to $25,000. BNLers wishing to donate may do so in several ways:
You can go online and make a contribution to Unicef or Mercy Corps. Please forward your electronic confirmation or receipt via e-mail to Lihua Zhang, lhzhang@bnl.gov, so BSA can match the contribution. To donate to the victims of the China Earthquake through Unicef, see this website. To make an online donation for either disaster through Mercy Corps, see www.mercycorps.org.
If you prefer, you may send a check, made payable to BSA, directly to Lihua Zhang. You may note which organization and which disaster you wish to donate to. Zhang will deposit the checks into a special BSA account, and matching contributions will then be forwarded to the selected organizations.
BNLers may also donate to other relief organizations online and forward the receipt to Lihua Zhang for BSA matching.Donations will be collected through June 13, and all contribution amounts will be kept confidential.
